Secdem Windshield

  R1100/1150RT Windshields

Above: This is the tall Secdem windshield for a BMW R1100/1150RT, made in France, in its highest position (left) and its lowest position (right). I am 6'-4" (1.93 meters) tall, and for me this windshield gives me this coverage and comfort. Here is a link to the Secdem website.

A California R1150RT rider has introduced a new R1100/1150RT windshield that equals or surpasses the excellent Secdem. It is called the Cee Bailey windshield, and you can read about it by clicking here.

You can order Secdem windshields from Moto-Bins, in England. For further information, write Peter Locke at Moto-Bins. The tall windshield costs £68 (about US$98) and the standard height windshield costs £75, plus shipping. Air shipment from the U.K. to the U.S. is not too expensive (about $33 for one windshield). Above left: note the shape of the Secdem windshield as seen from the side. Above right: the tall windshield is 19½ inches (50 cm) top to bottom (the standard Secdem windshield is 15 inches or 38 cm). It is fully 2½ inches (6.4 cm) taller than BMW's so-called "tall" windshield, which is really best suited for a rider of average height or shorter.

Below left: Note how thick the Secdem is—it is about ¼" (6.3 mm) thick, which is about 1/16" (1.6 mm) thicker than BMW's windshields! Below right: The Secdem windshield fits perfectly on a 2002 R1150RT.

If you ordered a Secdem tall windshield for your R1100/1150RT and you think the mounting holes do not line up, check here first to see if the holes were correctly installed. If they were, the Secdem is not at fault.
