R1100/1150RT Windshields

Some purchasers of the Secdem windshield for the R1100/1150RT feel that the holes in their shields were incorrectly installed because they do not line up with the BMW's windshield mounting arms.

You cannot judge the positions of the holes accurately by holding the Secdem over the existing windshield. You must remove the existing windshield to see if the Secdem fits properly on the BMW's windshield arms.

Here are the dimensions of the holes I measured on Secdems that do work fine (all four of those I have ordered). If your Secdem matches these dimensions and does not mount on your RT, something else is wrong.

Photo above: The distance measured over the curve (on the front of the windshield) between the top two holes is 13¾" or 349 mm, center to center.

Photo above: The distance between the lowest two holes is 14", or 355 mm, center to center.

Photo above: The vertical distance between the top hole and bottom hole, both sides, is 4-3/8", or 111 mm from from hole center to hole center.

The diameter of the four large holes is 7/16", or 11 mm.
